Difference Between Bisexual and Pansexual

Weeks ago when I heard in a commercial of the news program, Bandila about “pansexuals.” That was the first time I heard about them. I haven’t seen the full news about it, that’s why I got curious who they are. I searched on the internet few days after then I found out that pansexuality is defined as a person who displays their sexuality in many different ways, or as someone who is open to a variety of sexual activities, although both of these definitions have become rare (What Does Pansexual Mean?).

They seem to be like bisexuals, but they really are not. For me, pansexuals can be bisexuals, but bisexual can't be the other. Bisexuals are persons who are attracted to both biological genders. But pansexuals can be attracted to females, males even to transgenders, homosexuals. What’s interesting about them is that they can get attracted, fall in love, or have sex with different gender identities depending on their choice.

Simply, they don’t care no matter what gender preference of someone is, but the person himself is what a pansexual is attracted to. If you like a person, then you like a person because you like a person. That's it. Pansexuals do not just like men or women, they like the connection with people. This may be the best definition for this, "I'm not attracted to everyone, but I could be attracted to anyone."

The rapper, Angel Haze identified herself as pansexual. According to her, "I define it as someone who sees people for who they are and not gender. I don’t base all of my relationships off of sex."

BISEXUAL VS PANSEXUAL

At first, I was kinda puzzled. The world is getting more complex so as humans. Even their choices vary as time passes by. Pansexuals may be present years before. It just so happened that the term has come to my knowledge lately that made me got confused and got interested in them, that made me more aware of such things.

For this, no matter what someone’s preference is, whether to be homosexual, bisexual, transsexual, heterosexual or pansexual, let him be. Respect and equality are what everyone should get in society- no sexual discrimination.
